| For Immediate Release! Reichel Campaign Announces Fund Raising Accomplishments, Goals On September 30th, Matt Reichel hosted his official campaign launch in the race for Congress in Illinois’s 5th District. Reichel coordinated a “money bomb” that day, asking supporters to contribute a suggested $50 online. The launch event met and exceeded expectations. The Reichel campaign is reporting that 52 donors donated a total of $2,301, bringing Reichel’s total for this campaign to $3,117. At the launch event, over 100 people crowded into the Globe Pub (1934 W. Irving Park) and paid a $10 entrance fee that went to support Rich Whitney’s Gubernatorial campaign. Whitney reported receipts of nearly $1,200 for the event. Reichel says: “We have already nearly matched our total from the special election earlier this year, when I obtained 7% of the vote. We now have the time to carefully craft an ambitious fund-raising plan that will make us a viable choice for progressives in 2010. If we garnered 7% of the vote with a $4,000 budget, what will we accomplish with $40,000 or $400,000?” In order to accelerate the pace of fundraising, Reichel has created a “200 club” for donors of $200 or more. His goal is to attract 200 donors of at least $200 for a total of over $40,000 by the end of the year. Reichel continues: “We are moving from the early bankroll to the serious fundraising phase of this campaign. We have the luxury of an uncontested primary in order to help plan and organize this campaign, so that by next spring, we are ready to launch a full frontal assault on the Chicago Machine.” This week, Reichel sent out a mailing to Green supporters throughout the country, asking them to join the “200 club.” He will begin calling them and other donor prospects next week. ###################################### ###################################### |
