| [01 Feb 10] :: For Immediate Release: Green Party Election Party |
| For Immediate Release! Chicago-area Green Party supporters and candidates will be congregating at O’Shaughnessy’s Public House, 4557 N. Ravenswood, in Chicago, to watch election results, beginning at 7:30pm tomorrow evening. Matt Reichel, candidate for U.S. House in Illinois’s 5th Congressional District, will be hosting the gathering. Reichel is running in one of the few contested Green primaries, and has garnered the support of most active Green Party members, in addition to the endorsements of the Chicago Sun Times and IVI-IPO. He also ran for the same seat in the special election to replace Rahm Emanuel last year. Other candidates planning on intending include Tom Tresser, Cook County board president, Jeremy Karpen, Illinois state rep 39th district, Bob Mueller, state rep 47th district, Simon Ribeiro, U.S. House 9th district, and Jack Ailey and Nadine Bopp, both running on a Green Party slate for Metropolitan Water Reclamation District. Reichel says: “It is important that we show a strong, united Green Party organization going into the general election. The ruling Democratic Party has proven itself to be big on “hope” and small on action. They complain that they are unable to accomplish anything with a 59-41 majority in the Senate. For voters that actually want political leaders with the courage and dynamism to take initiative, the Green Party will hereby offer voters that alternative in Illinois.” Reichel will be voting at 6:30am at Bethany Retirement Home at 4950 N. Ashland. He will then be greeting voters at the Damen Brown Line station from 7:00-8:00 am and again from 5:00-6:00 pm. He can be reached for comment all day at 773-803-1185. ######################## |
